Due to spate of break-ins into garages, tap and light thefts recently, our RNW patrollers decided to do a late night/early morning ops last night. After a briefing at our control the patrollers went to selected spots to sit and wait. The RNW CCTV operator was monitoring things and informing patrollers of any potential issues. One individual entered but he was monitored from a distance so patrollers were not seen by an individual who appeared to be watching every movement from over the N7. The person danced his way out of Richwood and proceeded to Tygervalley drive. From about 03:00 our patrollers started signing off due to no activity. Saps did a visibility park off on island about 03:01 and were watched by 4 persons. Saps then left and only patroller was still out and the CCTV operator continued to monitor and informed him that two of the four persons have crossed over the N7 and heading towards the turnstile. Another patroller booked back on with SS and Precinct Response Ar officers ready to assist. Two suspects entered and their movements were tracked by the CCTV operator. Patrollers and ARs found one suspect in the shadows in Muratie close but the other was nowhere to be found. It is suspected he jumped over into the park and jumped the fence on Woodlands Dr. The suspect, who gave numerous excuses and pretended to be drunk, was escorted out of the area via the "long way round" and cautioned not to return to the area. Our two members stood down at 06:20 after the CCTV operator informed them that there was no longer any movement over the N7.
Well done to the RNW Team, ARs from SS and Precinct Response and of course our men in blue from SAP Bothasig.
Job well done
