RNW — Successful Operation Against Cable Thieves

This morning at approximately 10:12, the RNW Chairperson received a call requesting additional backup along Giel Basson Drive, Burgundy, where District Watch members were searching for suspected cable thieves.

A message was immediately sent to the RNW Operations Group requesting urgent assistance. Without hesitation, our RNW patrollers responded, despite the area falling outside our accreditation jurisdiction. Precinct Response and Fidelity ADT also responded immediately, with Securitas joining the operation shortly afterwards.

Following a search of the surrounding area, the suspects began scattering in different directions. Our security teams pursued them, and seven male and 2 female suspects were subsequently apprehended and handed over to SAPS.

A search of the scene resulted in the recovery of numerous cables, stripped cables, and a SAPS bulletproof vest.
